The challenge of finding Mom the perfect gift, that says “Mom you’re the best, and you mean the world to me” can be well, a challenge. I struggle every year to find a meaningful gift for the most important woman in my life, BUT what do you DIY for Mom as an ADULT? This year I decided give hand engraving a go, and let’s just say the result is beautiful, these bracelets are so lovely and dainty paired with your very own hand writing it’s the perfect personalized gift. Step One:

For a wrap style bracelet, measure and cut 3, 42″ strands of floss then fold in half. You will be left with 6, 21″ strands. Repeat, you should have two set of 6, 21″ strands.

Step four:

Take a small piece of your stamping tape and place it right over the loop (this stuff is very strong it keeps everything in place, it’s amazing!). Then separate the strands into 3 groups like this.  (repeat)

Step six:

Take a pencil and write out a sample of what you would like to engrave. I recommend practicing on a separate bar or disc,  it’s not very hard to use but it does take some getting used to (make sure you have fresh batteries). Then simply Trace over the pencil, I did a set of two, one with my Mom’s zodiac sign the second with her name.

Step 7:

Lastly take your jump ring and run it through the loop as well as through the bar, using pliers close jump ring, then take your toggle and attach it to the end. Repeat to the other side your are all done!

Styling with chic Terrariums

I’ve been thinking of different ways to add life, and style to a dresser that was previously used as a changing table. Since our room doubles as a nursery I’m constantly looking for light airy items that wont overpower an already busy room. I opted for two chic glass terrariums (yes I know they are crazy trendy, but it’s for a reason). They offer a sculptural element to a plain or busy coffee table, bookshelf or in my case dresser and when paired with the right succulent they introduce the perfect amount of color.

To keep the terrariums feeling chic I filled them with small and large white rocks, they provided a clean fresh canvas. The white tied in previous elements already in the room, like the crib and white bedding creating a uniform look throughout the space. The final touch was accenting the succulent with amethyst and pyrite to add a bohemian modern vibe and inject a touch of color.

My last terrarium I played with scale using a large FlapJack or Paddle succulent in a slightly smaller cube shaped vessel. The smaller scale of the cube allowed the Paddle plant to be the center focus, drawing the eye it’s beautiful pinks and reds. I slipped a book underneath to further anchor it and add height.

Spring and Neutrals

With Spring only one day away, I’m looking to introduce a softer more romantic color palette filled with blush and neutral tones. When looking for simple ways to transition my winter wardrobe into a fresh spring one I always start with accessories. It’s an easy way to layer in new pieces when you are not quit ready to say bye to those cozy winter pieces.  This season I ditched my over sized oxblood tote for this small crossbody saddle style purse. With its lovely light neutral shade it’s the perfect everyday no fuss bag it goes with absolutely everything. Plus it’s the perfect size that won’t feel like your being weighed down so you can enjoy gorgeous days ahead. I like to keep my spring wardrobe simple and easy the less time I spend indoors  worrying about what to wear and more time I can enjoy the beauty outside.
